The User Profile Service failed the logon

The User Profile Service failed the logon.

1. I closed down.
2. Turned computer on and immediately pressed F8 repeatedly until I got "Advanced Boot Options".
3. used the down arrow to select "Safe Mode" and pressed enter.
4. computer then opened eventually in the funny look of safe mode, with a "Help" window.
5. In the help window there is an underlined "What is System Restore?" Clicking on that gave me the answer and "Click to open System Restore"
6. I clicked on that and a new window came up recommending restoring to a previous state before windows update which I had done before the fault occurred.
7. I clicked OK and after a bit of whirring all came up OK. Can you imagine how pleased I felt?

Uninstall tool

I had been installing the latest version of Live Messenger, and after some days I find my Shared folders was blown into  wind. Oki, I will uninstall it, and open the Controlpanel. But - THe Live messenger wasnt there!! What shall we do.

Download Handy Uninstaller - it operates like ControlPanel, but stronger, and find all programs not listed in Control panel.

Happy days are here again.

Or:

1. Go on to control panel and go on unintstall programs..
2. Wait for it ALL to load
3. Then click windows live essentials
4. Click uninstall
5. A box will appear, and you click unistall the Live program  you want .

Having fun with UNIX ?

QNX is smallest  and most funny UNIX system
I tried an early version in 1996 - a complete installer with network for modem - all inclusive in a 1,44 mb diskette !

Now the versions are bigger, but they are still possible to download free for private use.

The original is from HSM Informatik AG.

Slow opening files - MS Office Support

Perhaps consider this, if the problem is ONLY when you double-click on a
file to open it, the problem is likely due to DDE. It can be fixed by
this workaround.

Go to Control Panel,

Folder Options,

File Types, scroll down to and
select (DOC for Word files) or XLS (for Excel files), click

Advanced,
select Open entry, click the edit Button.

Now uncheck "Use DDE" and then put your cursor in the Application box,
arrow all the way to the right and put in "%1" (include the quote
marks), IF there is /dde remove it. Then OK you way out. Things should
work quickly again.

  1. Run Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Printers icon.
  3. Select the printer to be removed.
  4. Choose the Configure button.
  5. Choose the Remove button. This removes the printer from the Installed Printers list.

  8. Remove the section of the WIN.INI file that contains information about the specific printer driver. The title of this section contains the name of the printer and the port to which it was initially configured. For example:
